Consistent Fleetwood extends ‘cut streak’ to 44

Tommy Fleetwood did not have a great start to the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, with a round of three-over 75 that had him struggling on the greens. It also put him in some danger about his amazing streak of “Made Cuts” being snapped. On the second day, he was in excellent form as he shot the low score of the week with a seven-under 65 and zoomed up he leaderboard to T11.

He now has a streak of 44 cuts. The last cut he missed was at the 2018 Open de France in June 2018 by one shot. In 2018 he missed just two cuts – the other one was at Wells Fargo on PGA in May 2018.

In 2019 he made cuts in each of the 28 starts and had one win, two seconds, one third place and five other Top-10s and finished the year as No. 10 in the world.

He said, “Yeah, it’s something that I’m very proud of. I think that — I said before, I would like some more wins possibly as well, but to play week-in week-out and there’s always, it’s so easy to I think make excuses that, I wasn’t putting well this week or, like yesterday, I could have easily said, I’m putting terrible this week.”

“To have played that consistently over that course of time is something that I’m proud of and I think it shows a lot about how I go about things, about the people that I work with and the preparation that we put in.

“I’m sure it’s going to come to an end at some point, but for now just happy that I’m still here for the weekend.”
