Players have their favourite colours for the final round and it is yellow shirt for Webb Simpson as he showed on Sunday at the RBC Heritage.
Simpson wears yellow on Sundays because it was his late father Sam’s favourite colour. And ironically, the RBC Heritage, which was first cancelled, was later postponed, and concluded on Father’s Day.
He said, “This morning I thought about him, and when I was on the golf course, I thought about him.”
He later added, “So still feeling my dad all around me from memories. He loved golf. He would have loved watching today.
In 2012, Simpson celebrated Fathers’ Day by winning the U.S. Open at the Olympic Club. He recalled, “I will never forget calling my dad after on the way to the press conference, and when he picked up the phone, he just was laughing. That’s kind of what he did when he was happy, he would just laugh. So, I’m going to miss that laugh today for sure.”
Simpson lost his dad in 2017.
