Ghei shoots 68 in Rd 3 and lies T30 in Senior European Tour Q-School

Lagao, Portugal, Jan 29: Gaurav Ghei finally found the kind of form he had in heydays, when he won on the Asian Tour, as he shot four-under 68 and moved to Tied-30th, though the third round in the Staysure European Seniors Tour Q-School Final stage in Portugal . Ghei, who 75-72 in first rounds is now two-over  218 for 54 holes and T30. Only the Top-5 will get cards, so he has still lots of ground to make.

The others depending on thei ranking will have limited Status.

The current leaderboard shows four players at six-under and the leader is David Morland at 10-under.

Ghei was T-52 at the end of the second round. Ghei, who came the through Pre-qualifier shot 75-72 for a total of 147 and is placed T-52 at thePestana Golf Resort.

Another Indian, Amandeep Johl played in the Pre-Qualifiers.

The 51-year-old Delhi golfer, Ghei is a there-time Asian Tour winner and a multiple winner on Indian Pro Tour and is trying to qualify for the Seniors Tour for the first time.

Amateur Euan McIntosh leads the field at the halfway mark. The 2018 Scottish Amateur Champion has carded 12 birdies over the first two days in the Algarve, signing for rounds of 68-66 to take a one-shot lead over the field on eight under par.

One of only five amateurs to make it to Final Stage, McIntosh acknowledged just how important it was to stay focused in a tournament where the stakes are so high.

Staysure Tour cards, and full playing privileges for the 2020 season, will be awarded to the leading five players after four rounds, which means the margin for error is small and the patience required is great.
