2015-2018

Made his Ryder Cup debut in 2018 and beat Tiger Woods in the Sunday Singles as Thomas Bjørn’s side stormed to an historic victory.

Earlier that year, he won on home soil for the first time as a professional, emerging victorious at the Open de España. Defended his Open de España title in 2019, winning his fifth European Tour title in just his 39th appearance – ten fewer than Seve Ballesteros.

Enjoyed a stellar first season on the European Tour in 2017 – in which he was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year – becoming the first player to win multiple Rolex Series events with victories at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. He added a second Dubai Duty Free Irish Open title to his repertoire at Lahinch Golf Club in 2019 to become the first three-time Rolex Series winner.

Those wins came in a year when he sprung to global prominence and rose to become a staple in the world’s top ten, winning on the US PGA Tour and coming close to victory at the WGC-Mexico Championship and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Born in the small coastal town of Barrika in Spain, he played college golf at Arizona State and became World Amateur Number One in 2015.

Finished low amateur at the 2016 U.S. Open before turning professional.
