Murcia, Spain, Jan 24: Sharmila Nicollet finished with a superb eagle on thee Par-5 18thhole of the South Course at the Real Golf La Manga Club in the third round of the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage. It gave her a card of three-under 70 on thee Par-73 course and a fighting chance to get one of the coveted cards to the Tour.
Sharmila is now four-over for three rounds and is placed T-33. Sharmila had four birdies, three bogeys and an eagle and has rounds of 77-74-70. Her fourth round will be on Par-71 North Course.
She needs to get into Top-5 for a full card or between 6thand 20thfor a lower category, which will still give her a lot of starts.
Also moving up was Vani Kapoor, who shot one-under 70 at the Par-71 North Course and is five-over for three rounds. She is T-39 with rounds of 75-75-70. Vani’s fourth round will be on Par-73 South Course.
Amandeep Drall had a tough day with four-over 75 on North Course and at nine-over she is T-69 and will play her fourth round on Par-73 South Course.
After four rounds, two each on Par-71 North Course and Par-73 South Course, the top-60 from among the 120 starters will play a fifth round to decide the cards.
The top five get full cards, while the next 15 will get a lower category. Those below will get a limited status.
Alice Hewson of England is in lead with rounds of 76-68-70 at 3-under, while overnight leader, Scotland’s Alison Muirhead (69-67-77) is T-2 with Josefine Nyqvist of Sweden (74-70-71) at 2-under. Alison Muirhead last week topped the Pre-Qualifiers at the same venue.
