Ballymena, Galgorm, N Ireland, July 31: Diksha Dagar missed the cut at the ISPS HANDA World Invitational but her disappointment had a silver lining as she left for Tokyo as the women’s golf competition begins next week.
Dagar shot 77-76 to miss the cut. Also missing the cut, but by a narrow margin of one shot was Tvesa Malik, whose two bogeys on the back nine cost her heavily. Tvesa who carded 2-under 71 in the first round at Par-73 Galgorm course, followed up with 3-over 75 at the Par-72 Massereene course. She ended with 1-over 146 and missed the cut which fell at par. Tvesa had three bogeys and no birdies in her second round.
American Emma Talley fired a round of 65 and holds a three-shot advantage heading into the weekend.
The 27-year-old followed up an excellent first round of 67 (-6) with an even better round of 65 (-7) at Massereene to be 13-under-par for the tournament.
In the men’s competition, Ajeetesh Sandhu (68-70) led the three Indians into the weekend action. Sandhu was T-T34 at the halfway stage.
Gaganjeet Bhullar (67) who shot 2-over 72 at Massereene in first round carded 3-under 67 in second round at Galgorm and with a total of 1-under he was T-49. Sharma (70-69) was also 1-under and tied with Bhullar at T-49.
Daniel Hillier carded an eight under 62 at Galgorm to move into the halfway lead in the men’s ISPS HANDA World Invitational.
After 3-under 67 at the more difficult Massereene Golf Club a day earlier, Hillier registered nine birdies and a single bogey at Galgorm to move to an 11-under total, earning him a one-stroke advantage over Jordan Smith.
