Dustin Johnson has withdrawn from the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD. Johnson, winner of 23 titles on the PGA Tour, had tested positive for Covid-19 before last week’s The CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK.
Clearly Johnson wants to be fit and all set for the Masters and does not want to strain himself ahead of the Major. He plans to be back in action in Houston, a week ahead of Masters.
In a statement on the pgatour.com. his manager, David Winkle was quoted as having texted the Tour: “Unfortunately, Dustin just made the decision to withdraw from Zozo. While he is feeling much better, he is still a bit low on energy and feels it would be best to wait and resume his schedule in Houston.”
The Houston Open, which will be played Nov. 5-8 at Memorial Park, will be Johnson’s first start since a sixth-place finish at the U.S. Open.
Johnson winner of the FedExCup is also the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking.
