Pranavi best at 25th as all three Indians make cut on Epson Tour

Battle Creek, Michigan, June 11: Pranavi Urs made her first cut of the season and her fledgling Epson Tour career, as she added 1-over 73 to her first 70 and was Tied-25th at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship.

Pranavi, a prolific winner on her domestic Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour and the No. 1 in 2022, missed three cuts in a row before making it in Michigan. She had two birdies against three bogeys after four birdies and two bogeys in first round.

Pranavi was the best of the three Indians in the field and all three made the cut. The US-based Nishtha Madan (70-74) was T-34th and Nikita Arjun (73-73) was T-59 after the second round.

Four players Siyun Liu (70-67), Amelia Garvey (70-67), Lindsey McCurdy (70-67) and Min-G Kimsit (68-69) share the lead at the top at seven-under on the tournament. There is one more round to go in the 54-hole event.

Rounding out the top five is Thailand’s Siri Patchana (70-68).

Round 1 – Pranavi and  Nishtha Tied-11th on Epson Tour in US

 Battle Creek, Michigan, US, June 10: Pranavi Urs had her best start on the Epson Tour with a round of 2-under 70 in the first round of the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship. She was Tied-11th and four shots behind the leader, Australian Soo Jin Lee (66).

Another Indian, Nishtha Madan also carded 68 to be tied 11th alongside Pranavi.

Pranavi, a prolific winner on the domestic Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour in India, had four birdies and two bogeys. She birdies, seventh, eighth and ninth and 11th, while she dropped shots on second and 14th.

The US-based Nishtha Madan, whose sister, Astha plays in Europe, birdied sixth, 10th and 12th and her lone bogey came on 18th.

Soo Jin Lee made her first appearance of the year and got around the Battle Creek Country Club solidly. The 27-year-old Australian made seven birdies and one bogey to turn in a round of 66 (-6) and will take a one-shot lead heading into the moving day.

Behind Lee in a share of second is Savannah Vilaubi, who has already taken home one trophy this year at Copper Rock Championship. She started her round hot with five birdies in her first 13 holes before finally making a bogey on her 14th hole. She would collect one more birdie coming in to fire a five-under 67.

Kathleen Scavo joined Vilaubi at 67 for the day. Scavo found success early in the year at the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic with a runner-up finish.

Rounding out the rest of the top finishers are Kaleigh Telfer, Kristin Coleman, and Min-G Kim, who all were able to turn in cards of 68 (-4) and sit at T4 for the tournament.
