Sigh of relief for golf as TATA Steel PGTI Tour resume from Nov 4; 5 events with total purse of Rs. 4.2 cr

New Delhi: Two events with a prize purse of Rs. 1.5 crores (approx. $ 220,000) will headline the ‘Return to Golf’ for the TATA Steel Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Tour. While the Tour, which has not seen action since the Bengal Open (March 12-15, 2020), will begin with two Tata Steel-PGTI Championship in Chandigarh and Panchkula, the first ‘Major ‘of the PGTI Tour, the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational 2020 presented by TAKE Solutions will get underway at the Chandigarh Golf Club from December 3, 2020.

When the Tour finally resumes on November 4, it would do so after 234 days since the finish of the Bengal Open.

The PGTI also announced strict regulations and guidelines in order to take all precautions against Covid-19 and ensure a safe and healthy environment during tournaments.

The Tata Steel-PGTI Tour Championship, which also carries a purse of Rs. 1.5 crores ($ 220,000) will be held from December 17 to 20.

The season resumes with the two TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2020 presented by Panchkula Golf Club and the Chandigarh Golf Clubs and both carry purses of Rs. 30 lakhs each.

The first of the two events will be played at the Panchkula and Chandigarh Golf Clubs from November 4 – 7. The prize purse for the event is Rs. 30 lakh. The event will see one half of the field will play their first round at Panchkula while the other half will play their first round at Chandigarh. In round two both the halves of the field will switch venues. The third and fourth rounds will only be played at Panchkula.

The following week is the TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2020 presented by Chandigarh Golf Club which will be played on a similar format with one half of the field playing at the Chandigarh Golf Club and the other half at the Panchkula Golf Clubs from November 9 – 12. The final two rounds in the second event will be played at the Chandigarh Golf Club.

December will see three events. The first will be the third edition of the Rs. 1.5 crore Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational presented by TAKE at the Chandigarh Golf Club from December 3 – 6.

The 21st edition of the IndianOil Servo Masters Golf will be staged at the Digboi Golf Links in Digboi from December 9 – 12. The tournament carries a prize money of Rs. 60 lakh.

The final event of 2020 will be the Rs. 1.5 crore TATA Steel Tour Championship at the Golmuri Golf Club in Jamshedpur from December 17 – 20.
